Some clear style choices in outdoor living are emerging for this year.

Trending Ideas in Outdoor Living

From sustainable furniture materials to Greek gardens, some outdoor living design choices are emerging for this year, although these trends will likely never go out of style.

1. Luxurious Outdoor Living Starts with an Indoor-Outdoor Merge

Indoor living is merging with outdoor living in new 2023 outdoor living trends.

A top trend that’s been brewing for a few years is the full integration of indoor and outdoor living spaces. This includes adding enclosed verandas and partially covered gardens, as well as opening up the home to the garden or patio through folding glass doors.

2. Greek-Inspired Touches for Your Outdoor Spaces

Greek-inspired touches add depth and warmth to your outdoor spaces.

Greek-inspired gardens embody romance and history. Incorporate elements such as Grecian statues, columns, formal hedges, archways, gravel gardens, and stone pathways to make your Greek dreams come true. Plant olive trees, houseplants, boxwood, and white roses to provide shade for seating areas.

3. Terra Cotta

Terra cotta color and materials add Mediterranean warmth to your outdoor living spaces.

Terra cotta, which translates as “baked earth,” is a reddish-brown unglazed clay used to make pots and planters. Both the terra-cotta material and color are expected to play a significant role in backyard design in the coming year, adding a Moroccan or Mediterranean sense of style.

4. Outdoor Living is All About Upscale Relaxation

Create upscale relaxation in your outdoor living spaces.

People often want to feel like they’re on vacation when relaxing in their own backyard since the pandemic. This style is all about upscale relaxation, and it includes high-quality furniture, outdoor rugs, pizza ovens, water features, elaborate firepits, covered outdoor kitchens, and other features.

5. Sustainable Furniture

Sustainable materials are huge in outdoor living design for 2023.

Consumers continue to prioritize the environment in their purchases, and this trend is expected to continue in the coming year. The sustainable outdoor furniture industry is thriving, with more options such as bamboo, recycled plastic, rattan, and other eco-friendly materials.

Is It Time to Update Your Outdoor Furniture?

Here are some idea starters from what’s trending now.

Are you looking to spruce up your backyard or outdoor area? Maybe you want to do more entertaining or add a pop of personality to your outdoor spaces. 2023 has arrived with exciting outdoor furniture trends that are stirring excitement.

From luxurious interior brands taking on the outdoors, using mixed materials, larger dining and seating groups, to bold pops of color, these new furniture styles are perfect for updating or creating a new and exciting space in your backyard or patio. Here’s a look at some top outdoor furniture trends making waves.

Mixed Materials and Collections

Outfitting your outdoor patio with mixed materials and collections is a great way to create a practical and stylish space. This year, we’re seeing the use of complementary mixed materials in outdoor furniture, such as teak wood with aluminum, ipe wood with wicker, rope with aluminum, and natural materials.

Don’t be shy about mixing outdoor collections as well. Integrating different colors, accent tables, and chairs from various collections provides an eclectic designer look.

Lighter Frame Colors

Lighter frame colors with neutral, natural finishes give your outdoor space a modern and breezy feel with a touch of sophistication.

Lighter frame colors with neutral, natural finishes are another hot trend that gives your outdoor space a modern and breezy feel while adding a touch of sophistication. Light gray, off-white, and taupe are all popular tones for outdoor furniture frames that are perfect for making both small and large furniture groupings look chic and inviting. These lighter colors are an excellent backdrop for vibrant outdoor accessories like cushions and pillows while taking cues from the natural environment.

Interior Styles and Brands are Moving Outdoors

Interior brands are expanding their collections for outdoor environments.

Luxury interior brands are expanding their collections for outdoor environments, allowing consumers to bring the same looks and styles they have inside of their homes outside as well. Bernhardt, Vanguard, and Lexington are just a few higher-level brands offering outdoor collections that boast quality, durability, and longevity. With these luxury outdoor collections, you can seamlessly extend your interior design into your outdoor spaces for an inviting space that truly reflects your personal style.

Larger Dining and Seating Groups

Larger dining and seating groups accommodate more entertaining outdoors.

Now that gathering and socializing are back in full swing, we are seeing larger dining and seating groups as a hot trend to accommodate more entertaining outdoors.

With more socializing lately, larger dining and seating groups accommodate more entertaining outdoors.

Make your outdoor living area comfortable and inviting with chaise lounges for extra seating around the pool, rockers by the fire pit, extra-large or modular outdoor sectional sofas, and counter-table height bar stools for outdoor kitchen areas.

Bold Pops of Color

Bold pops of color are trending in outdoor furniture.

Outdoor furniture is moving away from traditional all-grey or neutral schemes to bold and brightly-colored choices for cushions, pillows, rugs, and accessories.

Bold and brightly-colored choices for cushions, pillows, rugs, and accessories.

Bold, brightly-colored patterns, stripes and geometrics for cushions, pillows, rugs, and accessories.

Geometric shapes, abstract designs, and stripes on umbrellas and pillows add more pizzazz, especially in tropical Florida.

Modular and Stacking Furniture

Modular outdoor furniture is gaining popularity as more people look to optimize comfort and convenience.

This creative design approach gives you versatility and functionality as pieces can be rearranged and styled with multiple seating options, interchangeable components, and optional custom pieces to fit your needs and accommodate guests.

Quality and Warranty Guarantees

Manufacturers are prioritizing quality and warranty guarantees.

The outdoor furniture industry has moved to prioritize quality and warranty guarantees. Since more and more customers are investing more in high-quality, durable outdoor furniture made to last, we are also seeing an increase in the use of maintenance care products and replacement cushions due to the longevity of frames.

Sustainably-Made Furniture

Marine-grade polymer material, known for its strength and durability. is an example of a more sustainable approach to outdoor furniture materials.

For outdoor furniture connoisseurs looking for reliable and luxurious pieces to add to their outdoor living space, sustainably-made furniture is a trend worth keeping an eye on. Brands are now utilizing marine-grade polymer material—known for its strength and durability—as a more sustainable approach to outdoor furniture.

EnviroWood® is an example of sustainable furniture material.

Take Seaside Casual furniture, for example, created from EnviroWood®, an all-weather marine grade recycled HDPE polymer composed of the same material used to construct milk jugs.

The top 10 kitchen trends that will dominate 2023.

The Top 10 Kitchen Trends That Will Dominate 2023

All hail statement stone slabs and perfectly partitioned spice cabinets.

The past year has lent itself to bold new design moments that began with happy hues, flirted with Art Deco, grappled with Barbiecore-meets-home-decor, brought back the mythical furry floor fad, and catapulted into a new maximalism (viva la vita excessive!). And going into 2023, no space is whetting our collective appetite for what will be in vogue, decoratively speaking, more than the kitchen. Witness the rise of fluted cabinets, upholstered banquettes (how precarious!), beveled anything, and statement stone backsplashes – all a refreshing departure from the white-on-white-on-beige look that set Instagram alight for an impressive number of years (RIP). To help with whatever your reason is to be in the know, the industry’s top trend predictors all agree that this year, dining in will be as extravagant as the occasional night out. Here are the top 10 kitchen trends that will command our culinary spaces in 2023. Bon appetite!

Color Will Dominate Our Domiciles

In 2023 kitchen trends, color will dominate our domiciles.

After years of no-show, barely-there white-and-brass backdrops that were becoming a bit depressingly zeitgeisty, a pent-up period of sobriety is closing in on us, supplanted by an unbridled indulgence of color. “The white kitchen is finally over!!” exclaims designer Robert Couturier, who, in a recent project, matched the checked kitchen floor to the red of a cock’s comb. “Gone are all-white Insta-famous kitchens,” adds potter and designer Jonathan Adler. Cue kitchens drenched in full-fat happy hues, peppy prints displayed with irreverent abandon  – even flooring that upends the pieties of Design 101 (can there be too much of a good thing?). Think yellow lacquered kitchen cabinets, flamboyant pendants, and geometric mosaics.

Some interior designers hold that white kitchens are here to stay but with a splash of colorful flourishes. “Designers are getting more creative with adding personal flair through alternate shades of white and pops of color in features like panel-ready appliances, decor, and furniture.” The latest colors du jours? “Deep colors such as greens and blues with metal finishes in stainless and brass options are the big trends that provide long-term appreciation,” says Middleby National Sales Trainer Rick Rasor. Caesarstone’s Lori Shapiro agrees. “In keeping up with the nature-inspired designs, we have seen green become a must-have color in kitchens lately.” Rasor says he’s also seen an uptick in matte black appliances, which provide a sultry contrast to any pop of color.

Statement Stone Backsplashes Are the Slab of Choice

Statement stone backsplashes are a big 2023 kitchen trend.

This year, we’re all about matchy-matchy – but we’re not exactly pairing floral tiles with corresponding curtains à la Grandma Donna. Many recent kitchen designs have seen a lot of slab backsplashes that match the countertop, for a cohesive look. This is a huge shift away from the traditional tile that can break up the look of the space. It’s sleek, it’s minimal, and it’s really gaining popularity.

A boldly-patterned quartz backsplash is a hot item in 2023 kitchen trends.

For both countertops and backsplashes, designers are seeing unique and uncommon colors, along with bold patterns and veining. Calacatta Viola marble, which has beautiful mauve and burgundy coloration, is definitely having a moment. Whether done in the strikingly veined Calacatta marble or a sophisticated “noir” stone slab (or quartz, for that matter), these glamorous unbroken planes (made from a single material) create an ultraluxe look that can make the most logistical of spaces oh-so-elegant.

A Secondary Prep Kitchen Is on Everyone’s Wishlist

Having a secondary prep kitchen is a big 2023 kitchen design trend.

Truth: For today’s homeowners, a self-functioning prep kitchen – even more so than that renovated 1956 Austin-Healey – is the ultimate self-indulgence. It’s an ancillary space, immediately accessible from the main kitchen, that works as an additional work zone for food prep. “From back kitchens to butler’s pantries, alternative workspaces are rising in popularity, adding functionality and allowing consumers to complete separate tasks by serving as a second prep kitchen,” says Jeff Sweet, corporate manager of product marketing at Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Cove. “With the option of being transitional or closed off behind doors, these secondary spaces can house everything from additional refrigeration and warming drawers to built-in coffee systems, wine storage, dishwashers, and more.”

Having a prep kitchen is a big item in 2023 kitchen trends.

In fact, people are thinking even further outside the traditional kitchen “box” by extending the hearth into other parts of the home. “What were once kitchen-only appliances, like the Sub-Zero under-counter refrigerators, are making their way into bedrooms, home offices, and bathrooms for added convenience,” says Matt. Whether it’s that spacious second prep kitchen for when the mother-in-law visits, a custom cocktail bar moment in the study, an outdoor kitchen, or a drawer fridge in the primary suite, it’s clear that we’re reimagining what it means to dine in.

Fluted Islands Are Making Huge Waves

Fluted detailing is big in 2023 kitchen design trends.

Fluted detailing is all the rage right now. Used on everything from drawer-front motifs to wall paneling, this pleasing repeated scallop-shaped ridge design that harks back to early Egyptian times adds warmth and texture that is bold without being too noisy (with a small dose of Art Deco vibes). Little surprise, then, that designers are having fun with it in culinary spaces. “I have to admit, I’m not a big fan of trends, but when I see a good design idea that shakes things up, I’m all ears—and for me, that new trend has to be fluted kitchen cabinets,” says interior designer Kesha Franklin. “Add in curved edges and you’ve got my attention.” This kitchen cabinet design can be used in natural wood finishes in modern homes or painted in transitional spaces. It adds warmth, depth, and interest to the kitchen, and it’s a definite conversation piece in the heart of the home.

Double Islands Are the New Single Must-Have

Double islands are a big must-have in 2023 kitchen design trends.

There’s always that short-lived trend that survived on pure sensationalism, but the jury’s still out on this truly bespoke fad that has been denounced as excessive. Nevertheless, the case has been made: Why have one island when you could have two? The thinking is, one island is for food preparation and the other for guests to gather around. This appeals to the committed gourmands who view cooking as a performance art and like to entertain. It doesn’t hurt that the storage potential this offers makes a CubeSmart facility look like a dollhouse by comparison. Aesthetically speaking, double islands often create a sight line to an important focal point in the kitchen such as a beautiful range or hood wall. Functionally speaking, family and friends can be close enough to converse, laugh, and feel connected while staying out of the chef’s prep space.

So if you happen to have 145 square feet of unused kitchen space and a gaggle of hungry friends who watch The Great British Bake Off for fun, I have a kitchen remodeling project for you (call me and let me create it for you).

Tailor-Made Storage Is the Hottest Organization Obsession

Tailor-made storage is a big 2023 kitchen design trend.

Customization is the new luxury. Because nothing says “deluxe” quite like a tailored, built-in spice rack. Just ask Cella Jane founder Becky Hillyard. When designing the 328-square-foot kitchen of her newly built home, she opted for white oak built-ins and sliding panels that fit her spice jars and cooking necessities with a precision that would satisfy the most OCD of Home Edit fanatics. “I basically have everything I need for cooking behind those sliding panels,” Hillyard says. “I love that the panels give me the option to have a clean, seamless kitchen but also a highly functioning kitchen.” The luxury storage trend is making waves with many designers, as well as design councils doing trend forecasting. Beautiful exterior cabinetry that serves very specific purposes around the appliances such as hand spice drawers, oil drawers, and technical cabinets is all the rage right now. It can be integrated with the range to create an all-in-one luxury island similar to what a high-end restaurant would have.

Tile Is Having Its Renaissance Moment

Tile is making a big comeback in 2023 kitchen design trends.

For the naysayer who might question the aesthetic charisma of something as prosaic as tile, we’d advise you to keep an open mind as these repeating bibelots are enjoying an artful resurgence. “The top kitchen trends going into 2023 can be summed up in three words: tile, tile, and tile,” says Jonathan Adler, who tells us he’s so turned-on by tile that he launched his own collection this year with Lunada Bay Tile. His advice to the tile-interested? “Embrace your inner hippie and try something organic and craftastic. Pair rich wood cabinets in teak or walnut with a textured tile backsplash and you won’t look back.”

The Statement Appliance Is Back with Flair

Statement appliances are creating loud and proud color accents in 2023 kitchen designs.

When it comes to appliances, people going into 2023 are very polarized on how they want these functional necessities to inhabit a space. Consumers are looking to integrate their appliances seamlessly within their kitchen design, whether that be a sleek modern kitchen with hidden appliances or something more traditional where the appliances make a statement. This is manifested in two very different looks: either an invisible wallflower-like fridge that’s tucked ingeniously behind cabinet panels—or a bold, loud-and-proud, statement fridge that is turning more heads than that piping hot beef Wellington showpiece you just took out of the oven.

In fact, Pinterest searches on “refrigerator art” were up 90 percent this past year, according to Pinterest’s home and design creator management lead, Jeremy Jankowski, who says he doesn’t anticipate this trend will slow down anytime soon. “People are turning a lot of norms on their head and are no longer afraid to take some risks in expressing themselves, especially in the home space, where we’re spending a lot of time in work-from-home life,” he says. “It’s a form of maximalist self-expression that embodies the ’70s but is really its own movement. And so, soulful spaces are emerging with free self-expression.” All hail Barbie-pink food vessels!

Vintage Is the New New

If you seek sustainability, vintage is the new new.

In the photo here, a repurposed carpenter’s workbench with a new zinc countertop functions as a kitchen island in this Mexico City apartment. The cabinet doors were also upcycled from elsewhere in the apartment. All overseen by a vintage star pendant from San Miguel de Allende.

The sustainability-minded kitchen-dwellers of the rising generation are also putting their decorating decisions where their mouths are. People are finding new ways to honor old stuff in their homes. While previous trends dictated that you would remodel and take everything down to the baseboards, we’re seeing that Pinners are rejecting the mass-produced and taking care of an already-owned space with an authentic story behind it. Goodbye, aspirational cabinet overhaul. Hello, inventive cabinet refacing (compliments of Grandpa’s storage shed).

Designers Have a Soft Spot for the Built-In Banquette

Having a built-in banquette is a must-have in 2023 kitchen design trends.

And finally, we’re throwing caution to the wind here and prioritizing our comfort, red wine in hand or not. “The trend of incorporating the kitchen with living and dining continues,” says Robert Couturier. “Lots of banquettes, bookcases, and coziness.” The snug banquette shown here (in a Schumacher Rocky performance velvet) just off the kitchen, it takes little convincing to relate the allure of a comfortable kitchen corner. The trend here is to layer and bring in molding and warm tones and elements of fabric. And who can resist that cozy trend, of having a comfortable nook in your culinary space?

Raspberry Blush, Benjamin Moore's 2023 Color of the Year

Benjamin Moore’s 2023 Color of the Year Is Raspberry Blush

The fiery red-orange will inspire you to break out of your color comfort zone.

Over the last several years, muted colors have encouraged serenity in our homes. Last year, it was all about green, fostering a connection with nature. Now, Benjamin Moore is looking to a bolder, more courageous future with its Color of the Year for 2023: Raspberry Blush (2008-30). The saturated red-orange is basically the best color in a really good sunset, and it’ll inspire you to break free from your color comfort zone.

Paint bold walls with the 2023 color of the year.

“It’s a really charismatic color and doesn’t sit quietly on the wall,” says Andrea Magno, color marketing and development director at Benjamin Moore. “It’s about awakening our senses and getting people to engage with a vivacious color.”

Make your kitchen come alive with the 2023 color of the year.

The 2023 color of the year is a trend toward warmer hues

Notably, Raspberry Blush marks a pull toward warmer hues. “We’ve had colors that are on the cooler side of the color wheel for a number of years, and now we’re really starting to see a shift to the warmer colors,” Magno says.

Try a piece of furniture painted in the 2023 color of the year.

Playing with Raspberry Blush can mean blanketing your walls with it—like as a modern take on the red dining room of the past—or incorporating it in a smaller way through a painted piece of furniture. No matter how much surface area you allot for the color, it’ll bring high energy into any space.

A throw lets you test the waters with the 2023 color of the year.

Exciting colors trending for 2023

Raspberry Blush also sets the stage for Benjamin Moore’s color trends palette for 2023. The eight-color palette features an eclectic mix of colors with nostalgic references to periods like the ’80s and ’90s as well as deeply saturated hues found in the wild. “A lot of times people talk about (and we’ve done it, too) looking at nature as a point of inspiration,” Magno explains. “But for this year, instead of looking at more organic, vegetal colors, we were looking at the standout colors—the fiery colors of a sunset, tropical flowers, the depths of the Mediterranean.”

Benjamin Moore's 2o23 color trends palette.

To celebrate Raspberry Blush, Benjamin Moore tapped the electro-funk duo Chromeo to bring the color’s personality to life through a new song fittingly called “Raspberry Blush.” You can also find eight playlists dedicated to each color in the palette on Spotify for an immersive visual and audible experience—perfect for putting on the loudspeaker as you give your home a paint refresh!

Do you love the Benjamin Moore 2023 color of the year?

If this bold new coral color for 2023 has inspired you, and you’d like to see how to incorporate it into your spaces, I’m always available for consultations. If this sounds appealing, we can talk about how Raspberry Blush can enhance your interior spaces. Choose a contact method right below this blog post, or click this “contact” link. Outdoor furniture trends 2022

Exciting Outdoor Furniture Trends This Summer

Curves, texture, and other interior trends found their way to the great outdoors in new products at the recent High Point Market trade show. Exciting outdoor furniture trends were definitely on-target as summer heats up

Summer’s here, and the hottest looks for your living room – including rounded silhouettes, natural touches, and mixed materials – are also headed outdoors. That was one of the big stories at the spring 2022 High Point Market in North Carolina, where furniture companies recently showcased their latest collections for thousands of buyers and designers. Here’s a look at the top outdoor furniture trends that are making their way from the design market to a patio or deck near you… maybe yours…

Outdoor furniture trends: rounded corners.

1. Rounded Corners

This season, outdoor furniture pieces had curves in all the right places, just like their indoor counterparts. Some had gently rounded corners; others took exaggerated, sculptural forms.

The new Sense outdoor sofa from Cane-line – paired here with other pieces from the Danish company – is a beautiful and relatively restrained example of the trend. It features retro Scandinavian lines, a weather-resistant weave, and quick-dry cushions. (An indoor version is available in natural rattan – and that’s another trend, bringing the outside in, and vice-versa)

Outdoor furniture trends: natural and organic looks and styling.

2. Natural Nods in Outdoor Furniture Trends

Whether woven, wrapped, or strung, natural fibers go hand in hand with these rounded designs thanks to their flexibility and their organic look and feel. Rattan, wicker, cotton, jute, and their kin have been all over furniture and decor in recent seasons, both indoors and out, though manufacturers of outdoor furniture often use synthetic materials to get the same look with more durability.

For summer, many manufacturers showed fresh iterations on the natural-texture trend by playing with fiber size, color, and silhouette. Pictured here, the delicate-looking strings on Kenneth Cobonpue’s Papillon easy armchair, which are made of handwoven polyethylene, stretch on a frame that resembles fluttering butterfly wings. The natural motif, lightweight fibers, throne-like shape, and Filipino roots suggest a modern take on a classic rattan peacock chair — a design that’s also popular this season.

Outdoor furniture trends: bringing indoor styling outside.

3. Indoor-Outdoor Vibes

Over the past couple of years, patios have transformed into extensions of our interior living spaces, and furnishings have followed suit. This spring, many manufacturers at High Point debuted outdoor furniture collections that mimic high-end living and dining room furniture, making them equally at home in either environment.

Kravet’s newly-launched KravetSoleil Indoor/Outdoor collection is a prime example. Its fully upholstered pieces, which include swivel chairs, couches, and ottomans, can be customized with nail designs in outdoor-suitable nickel or brass. The coordinating rugs are so soft, that it’s hard to believe they’re actually made from recycled water bottles.

Outdoor furniture trends: tropical pops of color.

4. Tropical Pops

Earthy tones will always have a place in outdoor furniture trends, but the market’s trend forecasters predict a resurgence of color this summer, especially tropical shades of blue and orange. While easily incorporated in accent pieces, such upbeat colors also turned up in furniture frames and upholstery at this spring’s market.

Chairs from Lloyd Flanders’ new Solstice and Southport collections are offered in more than a dozen colors of all-weather wicker, from beige to the bold peacock finish seen here. The color on the Southport’s frame is customizable too. Add a coral pillow and – pop! – you’re right on-trend.

Outdoor furniture trends: mixed matierials

5. Mixed Materials

Many market exhibitors embraced a “more is more” approach to mixing materials and textures in outdoor furniture pieces. Whether the contrasts were subtle or bold, the variety added interest and warmth to the designs.

The Secret Garden collection designed by Roberto Lazzeroni is a particularly attractive example of the trend. One of several new collections by Poltrona Frau on display in JANUS et Cie showrooms this spring, it features teak frames, upholstered cushions, two-tone woven cotton webbing, and enameled-stoneware tops in an array of colors, including the aqua shown here.

Outdoor furniture trends: eco-friendly elements.

6. Eco-Friendly Elements are Prominent in Outdoor Furniture Trends

Many of the durable materials traditionally used in outdoor furniture are associated with environmental damage, such as forest and habitat loss resulting from improper teak harvesting and pollution from plastic production and disposal. Fortunately, with increased awareness comes greater demand for sustainable products, and at the market, manufacturers were proud to share where they’ve made progress.

Recyclable and recycled materials (especially post-consumer recycled plastics) were touted in many outdoor furniture and textile collections. Houe, for one, prominently displayed its ReCLIPS chairs, which feature lamellas made of Danish household plastic trash, and most rug manufacturers touted recycled PET outdoor rugs.

On the wood front, FSC-certified wood products, which come from responsibly managed forests, were available from nearly all major outdoor furniture companies. This Sunpan Potenza armchair incorporates both FSC-certified teak and recyclable materials. FSC is the Forest Stewardship Council. Click here to learn more about FSC.

Outdoor furniture trends: flexible footprints.

7. Flexible Footprints

This Sorrento sectional from Jensen Outdoor, whose frame is also made from FSC-certified teak, exemplifies another trend that transcended the indoor-outdoor divide at this season’s market: modularity. Easily reconfigured sofas, nesting, laptop-friendly side tables, and ottomans that triple as coffee tables and sofa extensions all serve to increase the functionality of outdoor spaces, which we’re relying on now perhaps more than ever. Fortunately, in showroom after showroom at High Point, manufacturers proved ready to fill the need.

Outdoor furniture trends: modularity.

Patterns & colors abound in new window covering trends.

Window Covering Trends for 2022

From the International Window Covering Expo held in April 2022

From customized designs and new colors to increased motorization and technology, read what some manufacturers are predicting for the future.

Expectations of traditional window treatments have changed due to the massive adjustment in the functionality of offices, health care, and other commercial spaces. Additionally, over the last two years, homeowners have also shifted to re-creating rooms and practical spaces to adapt to working from home. This has certainly led to an increased demand for motorization and other smart home technology, as well as personalized custom design, all of which are on a growth trajectory and constantly evolving.

Technology and motorization are big trends for home window treatments in 2022.

Motorization and Roller Shades

While trends in colors, fabrics, and window covering styles are always developing in response to cultural, environmental, and other influences, some trends continue to remain at the forefront, especially motorization. Steve Wright, CEO and president of Forest Drapery, foresees “continued growth in motorized window treatments, especially in the roller shade category.” Tim Sanders, president of SmartPad Pro, concurs. “Roller shades and motorization will continue to be the mainstream product in the hospitality and commercial fields.”

Roller shades and motorization will continue to be the mainstream product in the hospitality and commercial fields.

Where roller shades were more predominantly specified for commercial spaces in the past, they are now a must-have for certain rooms in residential properties, including, but not limited to, the home office as the shift to working from home continues to grow. “Interior roller shades specified with blackout fabrics will continue to emerge as a necessity for homeowners,” says Market Manager Gregg Terry of Phifer.

Window Covering Trends: Performance and Color

In addition to continued growth in automation and the increased use of commercial window coverings in home residences, charting the benefits and performance qualities with customers becomes even more essential in 2022. Marketing Director Holly Bridwell of Mermet Sun Control Textiles USA stresses the importance of elevating the fabric selection process with clients by making the interaction a “design consultation on performance—not only about fabric aesthetics and color,” and adds that blackouts, notably in the popular gray, charcoal and white families, will continue to trend. Weighing in on color trends, Wright also notes that “color choices are varied, yet fabrics will be trending toward neutrals and textures.” Elegant and versatile white, beige and gray tones, as well as textured blackout and light-filtering color-coordinating options, will carry on as a widespread choice in both residential and hospitality environments.

Color Matching, New Aesthetics, and Customization

While grays and neutrals may be here to stay—at least for now—designers continue to experiment with color, including greens, rich blues, and other bold hues. These colors are often mixed with innumerous textures for a more engaging presentation. Ryan Crist, director of sales and marketing at Texton, explains how end-users and designers are increasingly seeking “exact color match” and “close pairing” of shades with drapery. “End users want to customize a drapery color to match an existing paint color or textile swatch.” They will continue their demand for customized products and color match to ensure their shades are unique and personalized.

Nevertheless, the overall minimalist, modern and casual aesthetic continues to be a fashionable choice for both commercial and residential spaces. Mikala Moller, vice president of marketing at Rowley, agrees that trend will persist. “From a design perspective, that aesthetic creates comfort and harmony in a space. It is also a trend that has had longevity in window treatment design with streamlined shades, grommet and ripple fold draperies, and plated metal and acrylic drapery hardware styles. These will continue to hold strong in 2022.”

On the other hand, the desire for increased personalization and layering of design elements is notable. From this movement, there has been a resurgence of maximalism and layered looks that tell a story, inspired by cultural influences like “House of Gucci.” It’s driving heightened demand for more traditional window treatment styles in soft shades, drapery embellishments, swags, and hand-painted and mixed-media drapery hardware.

There is a heightened demand for more traditional window treatment styles in soft shades, drapery embellishments, swags, and hand-painted and mixed-media drapery hardware.

Commercial and Residential Crossover Trends

Interestingly, design trends from the commercial world are now making their way into residential design. “This includes tonal textures, as well as large abstract graphic prints that are often macro-focused,” offers Crist. Additional trends from the commercial world are making their way to residential spaces, including more emphasis on bringing the outside and natural design aspects into textile, shade, and furniture design, which is often referred to as “biophilia.” Sanders suggests that the industry will continue to see an “increase in many architectural designs creating spaces with more natural light and interior experiences with the outdoor in mind.”

Natural materials and textures are big in window shade coverings trending for 2022.

All trends considered, with current supply chain disruptions, it is reasonable that some in the industry are uneasy but hopeful. Depending upon the type of window covering system, shortage or delay in shipment of critical components will continue in 2022. “These could be as minor as the chains or fasteners used in roller shades to coatings and paints used for fabrics or header boxes,” says Terry. Therefore, it is key is to manage expectations about availability and deadlines to maintain customers’ trust and ongoing business and referrals.

The Future of the Window Covering Industry

The window covering industry, like all industries, continues to advance sustainability awareness in its products. And for many companies showcasing products at the IWCE show, this has been an ongoing initiative, not necessarily a new trend. Wright cites Forest Drapery Hardware’s longstanding commitment to sustainable sourcing. “Since the introduction of our wood drapery hardware more than 25 years ago, these products have been sourced from managed forests, a practice that will continue into the future.” Forest Drapery’s tracks and decorative metal hardware are also made with high-quality materials to extend the life of their products, reducing waste.

An expanded focus on technology is also critical to the industry’s future increase of new revenue and value-producing opportunities. Bridwell contends that growth will come from an intensified attention to digital marketing and sampling as well as leveraging data for growth. “In-person and live virtual design consultations will support higher prices and margins over DIY.” Judy Wong, president of Senbesta, agrees that having fabric swatch samples readily available to share with clients is essential, no matter how you meet. “Whether that be at an in-person meeting or a virtual meeting, by sending them a few 8 x 11 swatches by mail, these samples allow your client to see and feel the product up close.”

Many different material styles, colors, textures and patterns continue to make the industry grow by leaps and bounds.

Likewise, collaboration with other professionals through social media and other virtual tools is of the utmost importance for the window covering industry. Over the last two years, the pandemic has put some hurdles in the way that people connect with each other, yet the industry has continued to thrive. Wong raves about how “refreshing” it has been seeing professionals come together on LinkedIn and Facebook to share information. “I am amazed by how quickly the industry is adapting to changes and how engaged our industry has become with social media. I think it is wonderful to see this community supporting each other and interacting on these platforms.”

Finally, the manufacturing and distribution of window coverings and accessories worldwide is an unquestionable facet of its future. “The window covering industry is expected to continue to grow worldwide with customer growth mainly coming from the U.S. and Asia,” acknowledges Sanders. Regardless of their global reach, companies in the industry who stay focused on offering new or innovative products, providing customer-focused solutions, and offering the latest advances in user-friendly technology should be positioned best for the future marketplace.

Layering different window treatment styles, colors and patterns is trending for 2022.

Must-Have Porch and Patio Features for 2022

With the irresistible call of coziness back in wintertime, it was easy to shift your focus to your interiors at that time of year. But with the arrival of spring, we’re all relishing the outdoors, especially many of us in Florida, so right now is the perfect time to dive into your porch and patio upgrades for 2022. If you’ve been giving your outdoor spaces careful consideration and feel you’re ready to start researching patio furniture and fire features for the outdoors, there are a few nice trends to keep in mind in the new year.

Here’s what some outdoor design experts have been forecasting lately to help you decide upon your perfect (and perfectly on-trend) outdoor space:

Maximizing Outdoor Space—and Modernizing It

The rise in outdoor living in 2022 means homeowners aren’t just craving more space—they want to make it modern, too.

Homeowners are looking to extend their spaces and have more areas to relax and take in some fresh air. From a design perspective, outdoor living spaces are becoming more modern and functional to suit the taste of today’s consumers.

Clean Lines and Geometric Shapes

As a part of creating a more modern patio space, clean lines are key for 2022 porch and patio features.

Modular, geometric patterns are a big trend, offering clean lines and an uncluttered aesthetic. Flooring, especially, is becoming more geometric, with the introduction of patterns like hexagons and herringbone to make layouts more interesting. Modular materials also make installation more efficient, so construction proceeds more quickly and you can spend more time enjoying a new or upgraded patio.

Multi-Functional and Multi-Seasonal Elements in Porch and Patio Features for 2022

Along with maximizing the space, homeowners are eager to maximize their outdoor season.

The trend is to incorporate elements like lighting, sound, and shade structures to make patios and other outdoor areas usable no matter the time of day or season. Many homeowners are also seeking to create more functional spaces for day-to-day use, but that’s not to say they won’t use them for entertaining as well. Outdoor kitchens and kitchen elements, like a small grill island, pizza oven, or bar, are great to have for entertaining.

Outdoor kitchens aren’t the only rising trend we’ll see carried through into 2022. There also has been a rise in outdoor living rooms. Many homeowners are adding technology like large TVs and outdoor projectors to catch their favorite game or movie or binge Netflix.

Technology adds a lot to your outdoor living enjoyment.

Porch and Patio Design in 2022 Means Luxury Upgrades for Everyone

Not only are outdoor kitchens thriving, but homeowners are also looking for major upgrades in their porch and patio features for 2022 and beyond.

A trend to expect in 2022 will be big, luxury, custom-built entertaining zones. There’s already more demand for extensive outdoor kitchen and bar appliances that include dishwashers, beer kegs, outdoor fridges, and super-size grills. These types of luxury custom builds are sure to continue in 2022. Style and quality, along with the ambition to extend outdoor spaces into a complete functional ‘adults’ playground’, will be the order of the day.

All Fire Pits—but Especially Gas

If you were worried your 2021 fire pit will be out of fashion by 2022, the good news is that fire pits have always been a top-selling feature, and we’ll continue seeing them in backyards everywhere.

But if you’re keen to upgrade your existing set-up, go gas. Experts are noticing that fire pits are increasingly converting to gas, which is cleaner, convenient, and easy to use, and offers many more options for styles.

In terms of the latest outdoor fireplace tech, another trend being seen involves an update on the classic fire pit design: the fire table. Fire tables offer a sleek, linear look, which complements the modern design trend that so many are seeking.

One expert says that, while last year saw a big trend in outdoor fire pits, with the most common styles being a simple wood-burning or charcoal steel bowl, 2022 is seeing people moving away from solid fuels and gas, looking more seriously to electric, natural gas, and biofuel fire pits.

Along with fire pits, this upgrade in technology will probably extend to all outdoor appliances. Until recently, electric grill technology and appliances have been limited to luxury yachts and boats, but we are starting to see manufacturers develop this type of technology for outdoor kitchens. The popularity of going green and the public’s growing awareness of the impact on the environment of traditional solid fuels and gas means we will start to see the rise of the electric outdoor grill.

Gas fireplace adds warmth to your outdoor living experience.

Playing With Color in Porch and Patio Design

Color is definitely continuing to be important to the overall outdoor aesthetic in 2022 porch and patio features. Monochromatic color schemes, with varying tones of the same color, are quickly becoming an interesting trend, along with pops of color in outdoor furniture, plants, and other accessories.

There is also more movement toward dark accents with hardscaping and landscaping, with tones like deep charcoal used for patio walkways, retaining walls, and more.

Color is particularly useful for creating a zoning effect in your outdoor space. Some designs are now utilizing decking boards in contrasting colors to draw attention to a focal point, such as an outdoor bar or an inviting garden room.

Two or more colors can also be used to zone an area—for example, to separate a formal dining area next to a space to relax. Consider using a complementary color for each area, or simply select a different color to cut through the space.”

Using more than one color can be practical, too, such as creating the edge of steps in a contrasting shade to highlight the drop.

Using different colors in your outdoor patio materials can create zones of use.

Curated Nods to Travel and Tradition

There is a rise in carefully-selected pieces that reflect the wider world, being utilized for decorating our outdoor spaces.

We’ve been confined to our homes for so long that now there seems to be a hunger for traveling, which is driving an increase in decor collections from around the world. This will likely be reflected in interest toward folklore and traditional artisanal items in particular.

This perfect mix of old and new, begs for scouring vintage stores or upcycling pieces you may frequent, to really make the most of this growing trend.

An Explosion of Beautiful High-Quality Materials in 2022 Porch and Patio Features

Another trend you can expect to see is the blending of high-quality traditional landscaping materials, granites, and natural stone, along with the new super-tough, man-made cladding and engineered work surfaces.

There is a bit of an explosion in the outdoor design arena for engineered work surfaces like dekton and infinity stone. These new surfaces are impermeable, freeze- and thaw-resistant, high-heat-resistant, and scratch-resistant, So, along with an incredible array of colors and textures available in large formats, these engineered materials are poised to grow in popularity.

Crafting Your Dream Outdoor Space Takes Good Planning Ahead of Time

As you’re considering all the features you want for your outdoor space, one critical word is: Plan. Plan, plan, plan! Adding your must-have features further down the line can be much more tedious and a lot less cost-efficient.

7 Big Interior Color Trends for 2022

Here are some lovely interior color trends for 2022 – and how to use them in your home. You may have noticed, we’ve been moving towards a mindset of wellbeing lately. From calming neutrals countering the turbulence of the pandemic to cheerful and optimistic shades, this selection reflects that healing trend and incorporates aspects of wellbeing into the home.

Colors resonate in distinct ways for different people, and while some gravitate towards calming neutrals to counter the upheaval of the past couple of years, others choose to immerse themselves in positive, vivid colors, reaching for optimism. Frankly, I think all of it works to move things (us and all that is wrapped up in our lives) forward with a big smile to the future.

Dulux’s Bright Skies is a fresh and airy blue, Benjamin Moore chose a gentle shade of sage, while Farrow & Ball predicts a cheerful rainbow, from the spicy yellow Babouche No.223 to the lively Breakfast Room Green No.81. All of these make that healing statement of wellbeing for this 2022 year.

Here are some tips on how you can make the most of these 2022 interior color trends in your home.

1. Babouche – the sunny yellow

Named after the distinctive color of the leather slippers worn by men in Morocco, this shade of yellow can be described as ‘subdued sunshine.’

In 2022, we’ll relish brighter colors that herald a return to normality. The sunny and uncomplicated Babouche is perfect for embracing this – while bold, it never feels garish or overpowering.

Named after the distinctive color of the leather slippers worn by men in Morocco, this shade of yellow can be described as ‘subdued sunshine.’ Despite its bold hue, it’s not overly bright or overpowering, making it perfect for a larger room, where its cheerfulness will intensify. In terms of décor, opt for more minimalist companions, such as simple line drawings, or unobtrusive bright shades.

This buttery yellow can help to brighten a space with limited natural light, and when you consider the color wheel, this particular shade would sit well with a pale blue or a soft pink/red.

2. School House White – the updated neutral

Ideal for a background on which to feature dramatic, largescale artworks, or even vibrant, statement rugs, it’s hard to go wrong with this particular shade of white.

A soft, off-white shade, School House White is designed to look like white in a shaded area. Muted, timeless, and comfortingly familiar, this shade evokes the nostalgia of old schoolhouses. Due to its grounded, unassuming hue, this shade would pair easily with virtually any other color. Ideal for a background on which to feature dramatic, largescale artworks, or even vibrant, statement rugs, it’s hard to go wrong with this particular shade of white.

This shade will also amplify the power of Babouche if you like the idea of combining multiple 2022 interior color trends.

3. Bright Skies – the hopeful blue

This blue shade has the potential to be the new grey.

This airy and fresh shade breathes new life into any space. It will be a game-changer when people use this tone on their ceilings, with Marianne Shillingford, Creative Director of Dulux, saying it makes the ceiling just ‘melt away.’ This hue is both uplifting and light, while simultaneously being soothing, familiar, and apt for a joyous safe haven. This selection by Dulux was influenced by the aftermath of the pandemic, with many of us craving freedom, expansion, and a return to nature.

This shade has the potential to be the new grey, in a turn towards color with less emphasis on neutrals.

4. Breakfast Room Green – the cheerful shade

This green shade complements plants, whether art-depicted, or real, and would work well to promote a sense of wellbeing within the home.

The most cheerful of Farrow & Ball’s greens – named after the east-facing rooms designed for languid mornings spent eating breakfast in the dawn light. This soft shade reflects the natural world we’ve often retreated to during the pandemic.

These last two years, many of us spent much of our time reconnecting with our gardens and falling back in love with nature. This shade complements plants, whether art-depicted, or real, and would work well to promote a sense of wellbeing within the home. Pair this shade with Stone Blue for a visual effect that is captivatingly familiar. Due to its calming nature, opt for artwork that speaks to wellbeing.

5. Incarnadine – the comforting red

This comforting shade of red would pair perfectly with warm woodwork and rustic gold touches.

Rich, warm, and oh-so-comforting, is Incarnadine. This shade combines traditional red while beckoning the spirit of the leisurely Mediterranean. This shade would pair perfectly with warm woodwork and rustic gold touches. Alternatively, angle it towards an edgy twist by pairing it with a bright white shade.

Heighten the contemporary feel in this glossy shade by combining it with a monochromatic palette, or go for opulence with plenty of velvets, deep forest greens or inky blues, and classic antique furniture.

6. October Mist – the palest green

A particularly calming color combination puts October Mist with deeper fern greens.

A soft grey-green, October Mist makes a great foundation color from which to build an earthy palette. Much like Breakfast Room Green, this shade encourages a reconnection with the great outdoors and is easy to introduce into your home.

October Mist does well in a farmhouse setting, combined with soft, nature-inspired tones – pale sky blues, a scorched earth red, or chalky whites. A particularly calming color combination puts October Mist with deeper fern greens.

7. Stone Blue – the vintage tone

Stone Blue - the vintage tone.

An appreciation of vintage style shows no sign of faltering in 2022, with the timeless Stone Blue by Farrow & Ball sitting alongside Dulux’s Bright Skies as the most on-trend blue shades.

Named after the indigo pigment imported in lumps during the 18th century, this warm and timeless blue can be used alongside other warm hues to create an inviting, vintage look. Alternatively, decorate with a cooler tone for a cleaner, more contemporary feel. Bonus points if you pair this shade with other simple and familiar colors that communicate that sense of folk and craftsmanship that is present throughout this palette.

Some very nice colors here, breathing new life into interiors looking for a refresh. Not all of the paints are easily available in the US, but there are a lot of workarounds and parallels. I just wanted you to see some lovely color trends making waves now. And, of course, I’m here to help you pull it all together and find your best personal palette for 2022.

The familiar, comfortable nature of Evergreen Fog shines as a reassuring backdrop and freshens up any space

“Evergreen Fog” is the Sherwin-Williams 2022 Color Of The Year.

These days, if you’d rather skip the after party to go home, light a candle and break out the slippers, then this lovely neutral is for you. After years of bright jewel tones and chic neutral hues, Sherwin-Williams has announced Evergreen Fog (SW 9130), a strikingly soft and soothing green, as its 2022 color of the year.

“Evergreen Fog is a sophisticated wash of color for spaces that crave a subtle yet stunning statement shade,” said Sue Wadden, director of color marketing at Sherwin-Williams. “Evergreen Fog inspires us to begin again and is a great choice for modern interiors and exteriors.”

Evergreen Fog is a soft gray-green neutral.

The calming green represents much more than a deeper dive (and perhaps return) into a more muted palette that is appearing from a wide variety of sources. Wadden explains that in the past few years, neutrals have been warming up and we have prioritized sustainability and organic living more than ever. While just five years ago we may have gone for that polished contrasted look in our homes, more people are flocking to organic textiles and natural materials.

The Rise of Green

Sherwin-Williams isn’t the only major brand touting green in 2022, either. Benjamin Moore’s 2022 Color Trends Report pointed to “October Mist 1495”, a subtly smoky sage, among more earthy and soft-bold colors.

“Specifically, there’s been rising interest in greens. The green color family is so diverse, from calming rich sages like Evergreen Fog to earthier tones and more dramatic emeralds,” Wadden told Forbes Home. “All of our research and these trends helped Evergreen Fog emerge as a clear choice for the 2022 color of the year.”

Perfect welcome to our home color.

What’s more: This year’s 2022 color of the year reflects our reality having gone through (and still going through) a worldwide pandemic. Green is often associated with healing and growth, and while it’s simple speculation, it’s easy to correlate the selection for this year’s interior color schemes with what so many of us have realized we really needed over the last year and a half: a calm, safe space.

Living area calming color.

“Green from a color psychology standpoint is the color of nature and revitalization and growth, and green is emblematic of that newness,” Wadden continues. “The popularity of this soft gray-green right now shows how poignant that color and its meaning are. It’s about rebirth, growth, and beginning again. From the Sherwin-Williams perspective, we announced last year Urbane Bronze as our Color of the Year, which was all about sanctuary, safety, and cocooning.”

Evergreen Fog’s Best Color Pairings

While Wadden maintains that Evergreen Fog is an extremely versatile color, there are a few key colors she would recommend to pair it with.

“The familiar, comfortable nature of Evergreen Fog shines as a reassuring backdrop and freshens up any space,” Wadden said. “Create depth and texture with a mix of natural-looking textiles. Add a little gleam with a fusion of metals—champagne gold, warm brass, or inky black.”

Color-pairings for Evergreen Fog gray-green.

Wadden recommends pairing Evergreen Fog with organic neutrals such as Shoji White SW 7042, Accessible Beige SW 7036, and Woven Wicker SW 9104, as well as tonal luxurious hues such as Urbane Bronze SW 7048, Über Umber SW 9107, and Bakelite Gold SW 6368.

Where to Use Evergreen Fog

I love this hue’s versatility and ability to fit into nearly any design style, including art deco, modern organic, and postmodernism.

“Evergreen Fog brings a regenerative touch to any environment, whether hotel room, restaurant, or office,” said Wadden.

This Evergreen Fog is a calming color for your home office – or your business location.

The toned-down and composed color lends itself to dynamic areas of the home, such as lounges and other areas used for rest and relaxation, to encourage the adaptability of the space, but can also be used in entry areas and lobbies to create a comforting welcome.

“Evergreen Fog is such a versatile color that it can be paired with any style of design or décor to help create your desired mood for each room. It serves as a sophisticated backdrop for a home office and is a soothing hue for spaces where you want to relax, like a living room or bedroom,” Wadden said. “I also think that it’s a fresh take on cabinet storage in a kitchen or mudroom or trim paired with white paint for walls and ceilings. It’s as beautiful for exteriors as it is for interiors, and I would use it as a mid-tone for the whole home or a welcoming accent on a front door, shutters, or trim.”

Beautiful bathroom luxury with a calming color.

10 Benefits of Motorized Window Treatments

Automation Welcomes Us Into the Future!

Smart homes are one of many great leaps we’ve made into the future; if you’re not already controlling your appliances, lights, HVAC, and security systems from your phone or tablet, you will be soon – and that includes motorized window treatments.

Voice-controlled devices like Amazon Alexa®, Google Home®, and Apple Homepod® are also quickly gaining popularity and becoming a staple in homes across the U.S. It’s no surprise either, with their ability to play music, set alarms, and tell you the weather forecast or latest news upon request – they simply make everyday life easier.

These innovative devices are fueling the growing trend to adopt smart home benefits and efficiency; and like many industries, window treatment manufacturers have taken notice of the need for automated products. “Alexa… open the living room shades” is now part of the smart-home mix!

smart home automation includes window coverings

The top window covering manufacturers that I represent have embraced emerging technologies, creating intelligent hubs and motorization that make it much easier to integrate your shades, blinds, shutters, or draperies with home automation systems. There are many benefits to going motorized; syncing your window treatments to work in perfect harmony with your smart lights, thermostat, and entertainment systems is only one of many highly sought-after advantages.

The Best Benefits of Having Motorized Window Treatments

1. Simplicity

With the push of one button, you can control single shades or every shade in the room simultaneously. No longer will you have to struggle with hard-to-reach windows that are behind furniture or up too high. If you have lots of windows, automation will help you save a little time every day and night that you can use however you’d like. Do you have elderly parents? Motorized shades and blinds eliminate the difficulty of reaching for or manually operating their window treatments. With Christmas just not too far away, right now is the perfect time to treat yourself or your parents to a simpler life.

2. Style and Sophistication

There’s something deliciously luxurious about using your voice or the push of a button to open or close your window coverings. Motorization and smart home automation allow you to easily respond to the mood of the moment, effortlessly and easily. And you can stay focused on what held your attention in the first place, without having to get up and manually open or close your coverings. It also goes without saying that there’s an inherent big “Wow!” factor as well. My clients tell me the convenience factor is worth its weight in gold!

Enjoy your moments more with motorization

3. Lower Energy Bills

Solar power, proper insulation, and more have been a growing trend in homeowners’ efforts to more effectively manage their energy consumption and lower their bills.Installing motorized shades, sheers, and blinds can definitely help you increase energy efficiency. With automated, hub-based systems, it’s easy to integrate your window treatments with smart thermostats, like the Nest® Ecobee® Lyric® or Honeywell®, allowing you to control room temperature with window adjustments before using the HVAC system to heat or cool your home. Integrating a sun sensor with your smart-home devices means your blinds can lower or rise on their own even if you’re away. This important feature helps manage your home’s heat gain during summer months and heat loss in the wintertime.

set the mood with motorization and automation

4. Improve Home Resale Value. with Motorized Window Treatments

Since most window treatments are attached directly to the home, more and more buyers expect that they’ll be included in their purchase. Today, motorized shades and blinds are especially desirable and in high demand by prospective home buyers for their ease of use, ability to synch with smart-home devices, and green features that boost energy efficiency. Definitely a win-win!

5. Set the Mood

Need some mood lighting for a special occasion or while entertaining? Your voice command, phone app, or remote-controlled window treatments will gladly assist. It’s easy to store predefined room “scenes” to orchestrate and manage your artificial light, favorite music, and more to create the perfect setting. I’d love to show you the options available.

6. Boost Privacy

Motorized window treatments are a favorite among homeowners who enjoy their privacy. Do you have windows in close proximity to a neighbor’s house or worry that passersby can easily peer through your windows from the street? Simply push a button to lower your shades at any time and even set up automated scenes to close your window coverings at the desired times daily. For these kinds of situations, many homeowners like the top-down, bottom-up feature of honeycomb shades the most, and they can also be easily motorized and automated.

10. Motorized Window Treatments are GREAT for Security

Window treatments can deter thieves and intruders when coupled with home automation systems, by giving the appearance that you’re still at home. Simply schedule the operation of your shades and blinds while you’re away on holidays or business trips. With hub-based systems, if you forget to preprogram things you can still easily control your shades and windows remotely via your mobile phone or tablet.
